Predict-Observe-Explain (POE) Approach

Many struggling students with a read-write learning style become brilliant students when presented with visual and kinaesthetic learning models.

Predict

Even before diving into concept, we encourage students to tap on their existing knowledge to make predictions. E.g. "What do you think will happen when I put the balloon near the fire?" "What will you see when I put a glass of water in front of the card?"

O

Observe

We perform the demonstration and allow students to observe what happens. It's okay even if they don't have the right answers. A lot of learning is enhanced by addressing the alternative conceptions after all.

Explain

Here's where we link up the demonstrated phenomenon to the relevant concepts for meaningful and deep learning.

Watch it happening here!

We encourage students to think mindfully via observation rather than repetitive regurgitation and practice. With a small class size, we ensure that every student gets to actively participate and benefit from this POE approach.
